About Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home

Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home has been active in serving families in the Fargo-Moorhead and surrounding area since the 1920's. Originally the Hanson Funeral Home was located on Roberts Street and Fourth Avenue North. Long-time businessman, O. J. Hanson, founded it after World War I. Shortly after World War II, J. D. Runsvold purchased the business from the Hanson family and retained the Hanson name. J. D. was active in the business for many years with his son, James D. Runsvold, and Neal S. Bradburn. In 1960, construction of a new, modern funeral home started at the current location near Island Park on Seventh Street South and continued to operate under the direction of John D. Runsvold, third generation funeral director and his wife, Cydney. In 2007 Alex Rydell, a lifelong family friend of the Runsvolds began his career at Hanson-Runsvold as a Licensed Funeral Director, and in 2024, Alex and his wife Rebecca purchased the funeral home and continue to carry on the legacy of helping families look to the future with hope.

We create a customized, online memorial for you to share with family and friends. The memorial includes the obituary and any photographs you wish to provide. It will serve as a place for visitors to post condolences, share memories, upload photos, and light candles in honor of your loved one.

Tribute Video

We can produce a personal tribute video that can be played at the service and online. Simply provide us with the photographs you want to include and we will transform them into a video celebration of your treasured memories. DVDs or digital files of the video are also available.

Ordering Flowers

We make it easy for friends and family to send flowers to your home or service to honor your loved one. We have partnered with local florists to offer the convenience of ordering directly from the obituary page of our website. You can also use this feature to select the flowers you would like at the service. This is a secure way to choose beautiful arrangements from the privacy and comfort of your home.

FREE Livestreaming

We proudly offer free livestreaming of all our services so family and friends who aren't able to be in attendance can watch the service from anywhere. The recordings are available after the service as well for those who could not watch live.
