Winfield Miller, 84, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Golden Living Center in Moorhead, MN. Winfield Delbert Miller was born May 26, 1925, in Marion, ND, to Leonard and Emma (Spoerl) Miller. He, along with his brothers, Karmen and Darvin were raised on a farm south of Marion, ND, where they raised grains and dairy. In 1946, Winfield left the Marion area for Seattle, WA, where he worked in logging camps and a lumber mill. In 1948, he returned to the Red River Valley looking for farm land. There were several prospects, but he settled on a farm north of Glyndon. On August 14, 1948, Winfield married Peggy Ann Baldwin of Cooperstown, ND. Together, they farmed and raised five boys. Through the 1950's, he drove taxi cab in Fargo, worked at Diamond-T Trucking Company, Brannick-Swedberg Implement, and Swanston Truck Equipment. Early on, he attended Hanson Auto School in Fargo, taking up auto body repair. In 1989, Winfield and Peggy retired and moved to Moorhead. Peggy passed away in 1997. Winfield was preceded in death by his wife Peggy. He is survived by five sons; Gary, Glyndon, MN; Donald, Reno, NV; Keith (Corliss), Glyndon, MN; Randy (Kim), Williston, ND, and Terry, Fargo, ND; two grandchildren, Justin and Kristin; and two brothers, Karmen, Fargo, ND; and Darvin (Marge), Phoenix, AZ. Funeral Service: 2:00pm, Monday, December 21, 2009 at Glyndon Congregational UCC in Glyndon, MN. Visitation: 5-7pm, Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo, ND and one hour prior to the funeral on Monday. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon, MN.
