Willie Buchanan, 89, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

William Clarence Buchanan was born September 21, 1933 at Wild Rice, ND to William and Mathilda (Lisburg) Buchanan. He grew up on the family farm near Wild Rice and later moved to Fargo and attended Fargo Public Schools and St. Anthony Catholic School.

On February 14, 1953, Willie married Angeline Kading, the love of his life, in Moorhead, MN.

Willie worked for the City of Fargo and McLaughlin Equipment Company. He retired in 1997 at which time they moved to Arizona. Upon the death of his beloved wife, he relocated back to Fargo.

He is survived by his son, William C. (Valerie) Buchanan, Jr., Fargo, ND; daughters, Barbara (Gary) Anderson, Fargo, ND; Mary (James) Kopp, Goodyear, AZ; Kathleen (Roger Anderson) Buchanan, Fargo, ND; Deborah (James) Belcourt, West Fargo, ND; Brenda (John Milligan) Lavold, Fargo, ND; Diane (David) Halvorson, Fargo, ND; Laura (Jeff) Dahl, Fargo, ND; brothers, Vernon (Kathy) Sande, West Fargo, ND; John (Ardell) Sande, Rim Rock, AZ; Louis (Agnes) Sande, Fargo; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Angeline; parents; step-father, Peter Sande; twin brother, Albert; brothers, Martin Sande, Paul Sande; sisters, Mary Smith, Ruth Tubbs, Julie Olson; and grandson, Timothy.

Funeral Service: 11am, Monday, July 10, 2023 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND with a visitation one hour prior. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.

Burial: Felton Cemetery, Felton, MN (to be held at a later date).
