William Leonard Peterson

William Leonard Peterson, 74, West Fargo, ND passed away unexpectedly at Essentia Health on August 28, 2018.
William (Bill) Peterson was born March 17, 1944 in Stockton, CA to Leonard and Ann (Strukel) Peterson.
They moved to Valley City, ND in 1948 where he grew up and graduated from Valley City High School in 1962. He enlisted in to the United States Army in July 1964 and was active duty until June, 1969. He then continued his Military career with the Army National Guard from June 1969 until his retirement in March 2004. He was honorably discharged after 40 years as a Combat Medic and was proud that his Rank was a Sargent First Class (E7). He also worked as a custodian at Moorhead State University for 20 years.
He married Deb Irving on July 26, 1980. The couple were blessed with two children Rebecca and Brandon. They made their home in Amenia, ND for several years before moving to West Fargo, ND.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He loved to garden, work in the yard, play with his beloved dogs, and talk politics to anyone who would listen. By far the most important people in his life were his Grandchildren. He spent every possible minute he could with them, and when he watched his Bison football games, he would call them every time they scored just to yell "TOUCHDOWN BISON" and then hang up. He was a great person and will be missed by many.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Ann Peterson. Three Uncles, One Aunt, His mother-in-law, Norma Kramlich, and special family friends, Gordy Anderson, Dunc Grimm, Larry Anderson, and Nick Voulgarakis.
Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years Deb. His Children, Rebecca (Benjamin) Boe, Fargo, ND and Brandon Peterson, West Fargo, ND. His Grandchildren Austin, Halle and Aiden Aakre all of Fargo, ND. Honorary Granddaughter Annah Chapman, Dilworth, MN. Aunt Florence Strukel, International Falls, MN. Fathers-in-law, Robert (Betty) Irving, Pahrump, NV and Fred Kramlich, West Fargo, ND. Brother-in-law, Bruce (Nanette) Irving, Buffalo, MN. Sisters-in-law, Diana (Greg) Lemieux and Niki (Nathan) Vaagene all of West Fargo, ND. And many Nieces, Nephews, and Friends.
