William Bishop, 70, of Park Rapids, MN, (formerly of Mapleton, ND) died Monday, August 30, 2010, at Sanford Health, Fargo. William Wells Bishop was born July 17, 1940, in Fargo, North Dakota, son of James and Runa (Arneson) Bishop. He grew up and attended schools in Mapleton, North Dakota. Bill graduated from Oak Grove High School, Fargo, in 1958, before serving in the North Dakota Army National Guard. Bill married Karon Piper September 9, 1961, in the Canaan Moravian Church and farmed near Mapleton. He also operated a trucking company before moving to Park Rapids in 1999. He retired in 2002, but continued to help his sons with farming. Bill enjoyed ice fishing, cards, sports, playing pool, working and his friends from Two Inlets and his grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife, Karon, Park Rapids, MN; three sons, Joey Bishop, Mapleton, ND; Alex (Nancy) Bishop, Park Rapids, MN; and James Bishop, Park Rapids, MN; brother, Robert Bishop, Eagle, ID; and his three grandchildren, Cole, Danielle and Jake Bishop. He was preceded in death by is parents; and his son, Jeffrey Bishop. Funeral Service: Friday, September 3, 2010, at 2:00 PM, at First United Methodist Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Thursday, September 2, 2010, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: 7PM Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial: Mapleton Cemetery, Mapleton, ND.
