William (Bill) Thorson, 90, was born May 4, 1924 to Marcus and Helga (Thorson) Thorson in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Marshall High School in Minneapolis, 1942.
As Bill wished, he went home to be with his Lord in the presence of his loving wife and family on June 29, 2014.
Bill served in WW II with the US Army from 1943 to 1946. He built Air Bases with an Aviation Engineer Battalion in the country of India. This theater of war was known as the CBI (China, Burma, India). The purpose was to fly supplies to the Chinese who were battling the Japanese on the mainland of China.
After his military discharge, he met and married Eunice Stumpf, the love of his life.
Bill graduated from the University of Minnesota, and was employed with GMAC where he worked for 32 years. After retirement, he worked for Red River Collection until age 72.
The important things in Bill’s life were his love and devotion to his Lord, Jesus Christ; his marriage; and his large family. He also enjoyed sailing on MN lakes and on Lake Superior; reading was another highlight activity.
Bill is survived by: 2 sons, Douglas (Sherry) Thorson, Fergus Falls, MN; D. Scott (Laurie) Thorson, Sioux Falls, SD; 3 daughters, Debra (Robb) Denison, Minneapolis, MN; Janele (Brian) Nelson, Puyallup, WA; and Julene (John) Oxton, Lakeville, MN; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, James; and brother, Winston.
Hope Lutheran Church was very instrumental in bringing Bill to a saving faith and sustaining that faith into eternity. Memorials may be given to the Hope Lutheran Church Foundation Fund.
