W. Nelson Wright, 87, of Fargo, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo. Nelson was born on August 24, 1922, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Waco and Myrtle Wright. Nelson was raised and educated in Memphis until the United States Army stationed him at NDSU in Fargo for training in 1943. It was here that he met his future wife, Kathryn Ann Wolter of Hebron, North Dakota. Nelson and Kathryn were married September 2, 1944 at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma prior to his deployment to Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his service in defense of our country. Nelson and Kathryn started their family in Moorhead upon his return. Nelson worked for several area firms in banking, insurance, public accounting and bookkeeping. Nelson was an active member of the Moorhead Masonic Lodge, serving in many offices culminating in the honor of 33rd degree Mason. He was known for his deep, resonating delivery of readings and spent many hours perfecting his presentations. Nelson and Kathryn together served as Worthy Matron and Patron of the Moorhead Eastern Star. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fargo for more than 50 years. His interests included stamp collecting, softball, golf, tennis, woodworking, music and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Kathryn, of Moorhead, daughters Carol Curry, St. Paul, Minnesota, MaryBeth Limpert, San Francisco, CA, Nancy Lilleberg, Fargo, and son Bruce Wright, Fargo. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a great grandson, Ethan Jessup. Funeral Service: Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, January 26, 2010, from Noon to 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Fargo, ND. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
