Virginia Lucille (Lileks) Vraa died on January 31, 2015. She was born to Mary and Sefran Lileks on August 18, 1922. She received her education and grew up in rural Cass County and never lost her love for North Dakota.
During World War II, Virginia, who had not traveled outside of the area, bravely got on the train and rode to Fort Sheridan to work in the PX.
She returned to Fargo after World War II and spent many years as a homemaker raising her two daughters. In 1969, she again bravely changed her life by going to work at DeLendrecies. Her deep love of people earned her several awards as top salesperson, earned her many loyal customers and the nickname “Mrs. DeLendrecie”.
Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Sefran Lileks and her mother, Mary (Johnson) Lileks; her brothers, Vernon Lileks and Robert Lileks; sisters, Violet Emanuel and Hazel Madson; and her daughter, Jean Robertson.
She is survived by her brothers, Gene Lileks, Ralph Lileks, Wayne Lileks and Roger Lileks; her sister, LaVerne (Lew) Bengtson; her daughter, Judith (Bill Worthington) Welton; three grandchildren, Erik (Jaime) Welton, Jean (Ken) Harris and Jamie (Andrew) Ellis and four great-grandchildren, Drew, Lauren, Hannah and Violet. She was also Grandma Virginia to many nieces, nephews and their children.
The family extends a special thanks to the Bethany Nursing Home nurses who cared for her. A heartfelt thank you goes to Gail and Henry Walkin who wrapped her in love, protected her and took special care of her. Grateful thanks go to all of her family who visited her while she was at Bethany.
