Virginia Amidon, 91, of Bradenton, FL (formerly of Fargo, ND), died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at her home under the care of hospice. Virginia May Neff was born January 30, 1920 in Wayland, KY to Charles and Zeola (Williams) Neff. Her father was a Methodist minister, and she played organ at his church for several years in Louisa, KY. She went to nurses training in West Virginia, and moved to New York City to work as a nurse. She met her husband, Dr. Blaine Amidon, while working in an operating room together in NYC. They married on August 6, 1943 in Carlisle, PA. Together they traveled all over the world. Virginia volunteered for many years with the Women’s Auxiliary of Dakota Clinic in Fargo. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. She always enjoyed music and loved to dance. Virginia is survived by her children, Sherry (Craig) Fideler, Bradenton, FL; Cathy (Allen) Dorton, Bradenton, FL; and Blaine “Chip” (Kristin) Amidon III, Edmunds, WA; brother, James Neff, Richmond, VA; sister, Irene Wells, Springfield, VA; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and daughter, Diana Lynn Amidon. Funeral Service: 11:00AM, Friday, November 11, 2011, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.
