Viola (Vye) Hazel Wieland, Fargo, ND, formerly of Jamestown, ND, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Essentia Health.
Vye was born in Rushford, Minnesota, November 24, 1927 to Hilda (Bakken) and Carl Olstad. She graduated from Jamestown, ND High School in 1945. Vye married Emil Wieland on September 14, 1947 in Jamestown, ND.
Vye was very talented. She was an excellent seamstress, making many articles of clothing for her family. She was a master gardener. She maintained gardens in many Jamestown parks. Her yard won "Yard of the Week" several times. She also was a gourmet cook and loved to entertain her family and friends. Most importantly she always had an optimistic attitude about all things in life. She once said "I've never had a depressed day". That is how she lived and that spirit will live on in her family.
Vye is survived by her husband Emil of Fargo, ND; daughter, and two sons - Karen (Bob) Shellenbarger, Jim Wieland, Paul (Diane) Wieland; eight grandchildren; Nicole (Chris) Hahn , Chris (Christine) Shellenbarger, Ashlee (Jake) Cummins, Jessica (Ben) Record, Katie Wieland, Justin Wieland, Emily Wieland and Jaden Wieland; three great grandchildren, Logan and Aftyn Hahn, and Lyla Cummins. And a special friend, Cindy Belohlavek.
A memorial service will be held next summer.
