Verona Ness, 86, Fargo, died Feb 7, 2017 at Bethany on 42nd.
Verona Marguerite Ostlie was born May 15, 1930 in Hatton, ND to Melvin and Irene (Bye) Ostlie. She was born and raised in Hatton and graduated from Hatton High School. She was united in marriage to Richard M. Ness in Hatton on July 15, 1948.
Verona traveled to many places in the United States and foreign countries during Richard’s 40 year career in the Military Service. Richard, Verona and their children, Melanie and Dwight moved to Fargo in 1954 when they returned home from overseas duty in the Philippine Islands. She was a Sunday school teacher, PTA member, worked at various book keeping jobs and volunteered at St Lukes Hospital for many years. She took several courses at NDSU. She loved bowling, golfing and fishing. She bowled on the Fair Ladies League for 40 years. But Verona’s greatest joy was taking care of her family and home. She loved to cook, clean and shop. She married a man that loves his breakfast. She always got up to make breakfast no matter what time Richard went to work, fishing or hunting. Her family says she could spot dust from 20 ft away. Her sense of style and decorating was envied by all who met her.
Verona is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Melanie (Michael) Walsh, La Center, WA; son, Dwight (Linda) Ness, Belleville, Il; three grandchildren, Andrew (Carolyn) Ness, Matthew Ness, Richard (Melissa) Ness; three great-grandchildren, David Ness, Erik Ness, Ethan Ness; sister, Mary (Bernie) Morgan.
