Vernon Ellsworth Sogge was born September 12, 1918 at Willmar, MN to Knute and Alma (Olson) Sogge. He grew up on a farm near Spicer, MN and served in the Army during WWII. After his discharge from the Army, he attended art school in Minneapolis, MN.
He worked in advertising for JC Penney in Rapid City and Sioux Falls, SD, and also in Minot, ND. Vernon retired on January 1, 1986. In 1988, he moved to Glyndon, MN to live with David and Renee Sogge and later moved to the Fairmont Center in Moorhead. In 2002, Vernon moved to the Golden Living Center. He was a member of the Barber Shop Men’s Chorus in Minot, ND.
Vernon died on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Moorhead, MN.
He is survived by his brothers Roger Sogge of Troutdale, OR, and Truman Sogge of Kasson, MN, and sister Arlene Gould of New London, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Maynard, Willard, John, Norvald, and Allan; and sister Lenora Bengtson.
