Vera Kvale, 98, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Villa Maria, Fargo, ND. Vera Iverson was born July 2, 1912, in Brooton, Minnesota, daughter of Helmer and Laura (Ostvolden) Iverson. She came, as an infant, to McLean County, where her parents homesteaded in the Roseglen, North Dakota, area. She graduated from Makoti High School and attended Minot Teachers College. She taught in rural schools at Roseglen, Raub and Turtle Lake. She married Erling Kvale in 1933. They farmed in Roseglen, operated a grocery store in Raub, and later worked for State Farmers Union in Turtle Lake. In 1952, she was hired by Lutheran Hospital and Homes of Fargo as Office Manager at the Turtle Lake Hospital. In 1961, they transferred her to the Campbell County Hospital in Gillette, WY, where she completed 26 years with the company. Mr. Kvale died in 1973. In 1979, she retired and moved to Bismarck. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and Charity Circle. Whenever possible, she took part in the weekly Bible study class and found much enjoyment working with the Mission Quilting Project. Vera resided at the Primrose Assisted Living Home for two years before moving to Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo in 2006. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Emma Kvale, Corpus Christi, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Paul Jacobson, New Market, AL; two sisters, Evelyn Andersen and Mildred Flaig, of Fargo, ND; a brother and sister-in-law, Wallace and Herdis Iverson, Binford, ND; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erling; and her son, Erling, Jr.; her parents; a brother, Howard; and a sister, Gladys. A service will be held at a later date.
