Valeri Lynn McBain of Fargo, ND, passed away of cancer, Thursday evening, January 27, 2022, at Bethany on University.
Valeri was born December 1, 1941, in St. Paul, MN, to Henry and Ekko Anderson. She grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Wilson High School in 1959. Valeri’s first job experience was working as a clerk for Montgomery Wards department store in St. Paul. She earned an Accelerated Secretarial certificate from Globe Business College. After completing her courses, she got a job as a clerk at Mack Trucks, and later an administrative assistant position at the computer company, Univac.
June 19, 1965, she married Harris Lee McBain in St. Paul, MN. She and her husband moved to Fessenden, ND, in 1969. They lived in Fessenden for a couple of years. While there, she worked for the local Lutheran Church as an administrative assistant. She also gave birth to her first child Kari, June 1, 1970.
In 1972, she and her family moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area. She gave birth to her second child, Tania, November 30, 1974. During the 1980's she worked as an administrative assistant at St. John's Hospital. During the 1990's she worked various jobs before getting a position at NDSU West Dining Center, where she retired at the age of 65.
During her retirement years, she was involved in a few organizations. She was a member and local President of the Christian ministry, Aglow International. She was also involved with the Red Hat Society. Valeri was a member of River Valley Church in Dilworth, MN, and was involved in her church prayer group.
Valeri enjoyed reading, watching classic movies and TV programs, board games, card games, traveling, listening to music, singing, boat rides, sewing, baking, and occasionally, drawing and painting. She enjoyed most of all, being with people.
Valeri is survived by her two daughters, her younger brother, Barclay, some cousins, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her older sister, Charlene.
