Ty Gabriel Rath

Ty Gabriel Rath, 39, of Fargo, ND, died June 20, 2015. Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Friday, June 26, with a Celebration of Life to be held at 10:30, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo.

Ty is survived by his parents, Dean “Pinky” Rath, Fargo, ND; Barbara and David Hutcheson, Clark Fork, ID: and his brothers, Aaron Hutcheson, Seattle, WA; James Hutcheson, Fargo, ND; and David Hutcheson, Moorhead, MN.

Ty was born in Moorhead in 1976. He was baptized at 1st Presbyterian Church, confirmed at Our Saviors, and graduated from Moorhead High School.

Ty lived and loved in Eugene, OR and Missoula, MT after high school before returning to Fargo where he resided for the rest of his life. Ty co-owned and operated Funklords on Broadway. It was an eclectic shop ahead of its time which featured local artists, imported clothing and doodads. He will always be known as “Funklord, Keeper of the Funk”. He drove taxi for the last 9 years; the last 2 years with his own company, River City Ride Service of Fargo. He took great pride in being a lifelong resident and the fact that he knew every street and alley in Fargo-Moorhead.

Ty loved the outdoors, getting his hands dirty in the garden, collecting apples in the fall, Volkswagen vans, Chinook RV’s, fishing, scurf boarding at his family’s lakes and of course, the Grateful Dead. He will be remembered for his wit, his laugh and most of all, his love of his family and friends.
