Trevor James Ankers, age 60, passed away peacefully at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND, on October 8, 2016.
Trevor was born on September 5, 1956, in the family home in Edwinstowe, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, UK. He was the third child to Betty and Alfred Ankers. He attended primary and secondary school in Nottinghamshire. After leaving school Trevor took up an apprenticeship as a motor mechanic, while attending West Nottinghamshire Technical College. He had an interest in mechanics and repair of all types from an early age. So, as an adult, he always seemed to find employment to suit that interest.
Trevor married Joy Wilcoxson in 1974 and they had 2 children, Robert and Joanne. Trevor and Joy divorced in 1981.
Trevor married Alisha Kauk on May, 28, 1988. They soon moved to the United States, and made their first home in Fargo, ND. They later had homes in Kindred, North Dakota, then Moorhead, MN. Trevor and Alisha divorced in 2013. Trevor most recently lived in Moorhead, MN.
Throughout his adult life, Trevor enjoyed traveling. He returned occasionally to England to visit his family and friends. He made several trips to Nascar Races around the country, usually inviting family or friends. He spent his summers riding his ATV with the Red River Riders ATV club, camping, and fishing. He also enjoyed riding snowmobile and motorcycle with his friends when conditions were right. He was quick to lend a hand repairing friends’ cars on evenings or weekends.
Trevor was a dog lover. His dog, Candy, while in England, and 2 chocolate labs, Hershey (1990 to 2002) and Toby (2003 to present) were all very special to him. Trevor always enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, and always made sure to have the newly released animated movies on DVD for when they came to spend time with him. Oliver and Katrina also joined Trevor for many ATV club rides. He will be remembered for his love of sweets, especially Toblerone Swiss chocolate, M & M candies and ice cream.
Trevor was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Alfred Ankers.
He is survived by his siblings, Stephen Ankers, Susan Thomas and John Ankers, and his nieces, Stephanie and Helen, all of England. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews in America: Everette, Shelby, Grace and Ethan Kauk of Bismarck, ND, Jesse, Katrina, Haley, Oliver, Daniel and Rebecca Dietz of Mapleton, ND, and Desiny Meyer, Daysha Meyer, Jersey Trautman and Glenn Trautman III of Sabin, MN.
Trevor had very special friends in Bernice Trautman, Dave and Julie Doxey, and Josh Doxey. They especially helped him during his recovery from a 2013 vehicle accident, cancerous brain tumor, and subsequent surgeries.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Roger Maris Cancer Center or the Red River Riders ATV Club. (To be used for youth ATV training programs and/or trail dedication/maintenance.)
