Thomas J. (Tom) Pollock
May 13, 1964 – December 31, 2021
Tom’s spirit left his cancer-ravaged body peacefully on the morning of December 31. Born in Fargo as the youngest of five children, he graduated from Fargo South in 1982. Tom was a natural athlete who enjoyed basketball and softball until a broken collarbone permanently sidelined him. He held several positions throughout his career, most recently with Country Inn & Suites prior to becoming ill. Tom lived quietly and preferred the company of his cats to most humans. He was an intensely loyal friend who possessed a wicked, sarcastic sense of humor that will leave many fond memories. In years past, Tom volunteered at Homeward Animal Shelter, helping to socialize and give needed love to cats awaiting adoption. He would have brought them all home with him if possible.
He leaves behind countless friends and acquaintances along with his family – sister Nancy Mansouri (Fargo), and brothers Rick (Minneapolis), Steve (Wheatland, WY) and Tim (Fargo), nieces Nassim Mansouri, Catherine Pollock, Jessica Pollock, Sydnee Pollock and nephews Tyler, Ryan, Kyle, and Mytchell Pollock, grand-niece Mia Mansouri, grand-nephew Mason Faris along with a literal gaggle of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He loved you all.
Tom was guided into his next life by our parents, Richard and Joan Pollock, grand-niece Mecca Joy Mansouri, and his most beloved feline companion, Big Fella.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation of time or money in Tom’s memory to Homeward Animal Shelter or Cats Cradle.
A special thank you to the caring staff at Bethany on 42nd (he hated your food but genuinely liked you), the nurses, physicians, and other professionals at Roger Maris Cancer Center, Hospice, Catholic Charities, and to his many friends that visited, took him on an outing, helped him sneak a smoke, a beverage or just leant a listening ear. We, his family, are forever grateful.
A service will be held at a later date this spring/early summer.
“….And though our arms are empty, our hearts know what to do. The beat of our hearts will forever say, “I remember you….”
