Ted Hoversten, 87, of Fargo, ND, passed into eternal life on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo, ND.
Theodore Ellis Hoversten was born December 18, 1928 in Ambrose, ND to Guy and Ina (Hilstrom) Hoversten, and was baptized by his uncle, Pastor Chris Hoversten. He grew up on a farm in Long Creek township, outside of Crosby, ND. He attended a one room schoolhouse and graduated from Crosby, ND High School in 1946. He attended NDSU and later Minot Sate College, earning a degree in history and economics.
On November 15, 1953 he married the love of his life, Agnes Minne, and together they raised five children. Ted served in the Army from 1954 to 1956, in Fort Belvore, Virginia and in Greenland. Upon discharge, he farmed in western North Dakota, and then worked for thirty years as a field representative for the Social Security Administration in Bismarck and Grand Forks. After retirement, he was a generous volunteer at the Grand Forks hospital waiting room and took joy in helping his children, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren celebrate the many milestones of their lives. He was an avid reader, enjoyed golf, and loved cheering on his children and grandchildren at all athletic competitions. Ted and Agnes traveled to both coasts and particularly enjoyed a trip to Europe where they connected with the current residents of the Hoversten farm in Norway.
Ted is survived by his wife, Agnes; children, Becky (Gary) Savaloja, Grand Forks, ND; Nancy (Lewis) Harstein, NYC; Scott (Jeanne), Woodbury, MN; Chris (Leah), Hutchinson, MN; Julie (Bud) Kottsick, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Matthew, Maija, Leah, Kelsey, Patrick, Katie, Courtney, Ellyssa, Evan, and Carly, along with 11 great-grandchildren.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Thelma Golden and Elsie Redlin.
Above all, he valued his faith and family. He will remain a precious part of all who love him.
