Theodore (Ted) Eugene Haats, 92, of Green Bay, WI, formerly of Fargo, ND, passed away on January 18, 2024.

Ted was born December 14, 1931, in Bejou, MN, on the family farm, to Etteus and Kathrene (Kramer) Haats. He enlisted in the Navy in May 1951 and served until May 1955. He worked for the Veterans Administration, Fargo, ND, 1955-1987. Following retirement, he worked at Centennial School, Fargo, ND, 1988-1999.

Ted was united in marriage to Clarice Rivenes on April 13, 1957, at First Assembly of God, Fargo, ND, where they lived until 2015 before moving to Green Bay, WI. Together, they enjoyed spending time with family, church, Navy reunions, traveling, and vacations in Arizona.

Ted enjoyed all types of sports. He played and coached church softball, was on a bowling league at Red River Lanes, a member of the Red River Valley Senior Men’s Golf Association (his favorite sport to play), and in the chain gang for North High School’s home football games. He also enjoyed watching professional baseball and football. In Green Bay, he loved attending Packers and Brewers games. However, his all-time favorite sport to watch was WWE wrestling. For his recent birthday, he attended WWE’s SmackDown event in Green Bay with his son Bob and had a grin on his face the entire time.

Besides his wonderful smile, Ted was also known for his exceptionally tight bear hugs and his unconditional love. He read the Bible every day and lived every minute of his life as a devout Christian. He was an incredible role model as a husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Clarice; son, Robert “Bob” (Cynthia) Haats, Green Bay, WI; daughter, Renée (Dale) Duval, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Heidi (Michael) Farias, Chanhassen, MN, Marcus Sandvik, Binford, ND, Bethany (Tyler) Heslip, Suamico, WI, Camie (Marco Riboli) Christensen, Bergamo, Italy, Britta (Timothy) Cullen, Green Bay, WI, Tessa (Miguel) Rivera, Seattle, WA, Sean (Martha) Christensen, Fargo, ND; great grandchildren, Isabella, Lillian and Genevieve Farias, Vera and Leo Heslip, Laine and Jett Cullen, Diego and Lucas Riboli, and Juniper Christensen; brothers, Elroy (Sylvia) Haats, Wadena, MN, and Kenneth (Carla) Haats, Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Shirley Crane, Blaine, MN; sisters-in-law, Marlys (Donald) Schmidt, Fargo, ND, and Sandra Rivenes, West Fargo, ND; brother-in-law, Robert Flanders, Fargo, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brent Haats; brothers, George and Gordon Haats; brothers-in-law, Gene Crane and Clayton Rivenes; sister-in-law, Gloria Flanders; sons-in-law, Gerard Ouellette and Curtis Christensen.
