On Friday, November 30, 2012, Terry Staiger passed away in the Palliative Care unit in Sanford Hospital of Fargo, North Dakota. He was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer in January, 2012 and from then on, began a journey that was way too short for all the “sights” he wanted to see along the way.
Terry was born July 1, 1949 in Jamestown, ND. He was the firstborn son of Ben and Clara Staiger. In 1956, the family moved to Fargo where Terry attended Roosevelt Elementary through 5th grade. In the summer of 1961, another move to Moorhead, MN was made, and in 1967, Terry graduated from Moorhead High School. In 1971, he received a BA in Marketing from Moorhead State University.
After living and working in Chicago for one year, Terry decided to put down roots in the Fargo-Moorhead area. He worked at Straus Clothing, Northport Clothiers, Zales Jewelers, & Puffes Jewelry. In March 1986, Terry started a 26 year career at JC Penney, retiring in January, 2012.
Terry married Carol Buck on September 29, 1984 at First Lutheran Church in Fargo. On April 10, 1990 their daughter, Emily entered their hearts and lives.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Ben and brother, Doug. He is survived by his wife, Carol and daughter, Emily, his mother, Clara, brother, Tom (Lisa) and sister-in-law Nancy. Terry leaves behind ten nieces and six nephews, six great nieces and nine great nephews.
Family time and get-togethers were very important to Terry. Vacations spent with Carol and Emily were memories in the making.
Terry was always ready to share his beliefs in God with family, friends, and customers. We know that he is no longer suffering, but enjoying the “fruits of his labors.” Gone from the Earth but not from our hearts.
