Sylvia “Ruth” Lunde, age 90, died peacefully at her son and daughter-in-law’s home on June 2, 2017 with her family present.
Ruth was born July 24, 1926 in Estherville, Iowa to Jacob and Josie Nasby. On September 7, 1952 she married Norman Lunde. They had three children, Timothy Jay, Manda Joyce and Andrea Ruth. After Norm died in 2001, Ruth moved to Riverview Place where she spent 9 happy years. In March of 2014, Ruth moved into the home of her son, Tim, and his wife, Cathy. The family was happy that she was there, especially Ruth.
Several days before she died, the song, “Softly and Tenderly, Jesus is Calling” was played for her. While listening to the song, she tried to get out of bed, and said, “I have to go. That is my song.” Jesus was calling.
Ruth is survived by her children and grandchildren, Timothy (Cathy) Lunde, Fargo, ND (Mary Lunde, John (Heidi) Lunde, Sally Lunde); Manda (Grant) Patterson, Enderlin, ND (Hannah-Ruth Patterson, Adam Patterson); Andrea (Robert) Otto, Willmar, MN (Stephen (Jen) Otto (Mara and Kate), William Otto (Kim and Brayden), Daniel (Megan) Otto, Alissa Otto (Shane); sister-in-law, Shirley and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; brother, Tollef Owen Nasby and her parents, Jacob and Josie Nasby.
The family extends a special thank you to Hospice of the Red River Valley and asks that memorials be directed to the organization.
