Sylvia Borchert, 92, of Fargo, ND, passed away on March 3, 2022 at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo, under the care of the nursing staff and Ethos Hospice.
Sylvia Jean Gausemel was born on May 7, 1929 in Bowman, North Dakota to Selmer and Hattie (Norem) Gausemel. In August 1940, the family moved to Drake, North Dakota. She attended Drake School and graduated in 1947. She married James Borchert on March 27, 1948 in Drake.
They moved to Jamestown, North Dakota, in 1958 and then to Fargo, North Dakota in 1967. She worked for various grocery stores doing food demos and then worked as a Collator for CBI.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, cross word puzzles, bird watching, gardening, flowers, and weekends and vacations on Crystal Lake, in Ottertail County. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Her husband, Jim, passed away March 15, 2007.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Wanda, Fargo, ND; sons, Jeff Borchert (Becky Krogen), Lake Park, MN; Mark Borchert, Fargo, ND; daughter-in-law, Susan Borchert, Maple Grove, MN; four grandchildren, Casey (Alyssa), St. Croix Falls, WI; Jennifer Wright (Darren), Hillsboro, ND; Cory, Fargo, ND; and Janelle Kellas (Rob), Albertville, MN; great-grandchildren, Gracie (James) Kaczar, Gavin, Jacob, Ryder, Kale and Cassius, Madison and Emma; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sisters, Karen (Gary Connolly), Lakeville, MN; Lorrie Greenwood, Jamestown, ND; brother, Lee Gausemel, Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law, Erwin Lang, Bismarck, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James and son, Richard; sister, Mary Jo Lang; and sister-in-law, Gladys Gausemel.
Memorial Service: 2pm, Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND with a visitation one hour prior. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
