Steven Scott

January 20, 1955 — December 9, 2008

Steven Rayfield Scott began his journey home on December 9, 2008, at his residence in Fargo, ND, at the age of 53. Steve was born January 20, 1955, in Des Moines, IA, to Helen Scott Thompson and Crawford Duke. He attended school in Des Moines and went on to complete Cisco Networking Training later in life. He found his passion at an early age when he picked up a bass guitar and discovered the music within him. Steve was given the gift of composing and the ability to play any instrument, in addition to singing like an angel, all of which he attributed to God. His love of God was as strong as his love of music, and they went hand in hand with his love for all humanity. This he displayed with each breath he took. Steve was not only deeply loved by those he touched, he was respected as a human being and this is a true tribute to the measure of the man, he lived and died with grace and dignity. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Travis; stepfather, Harold McFeders; and uncle, James Harrison Baker. He leaves to cherish his wife, Janine Scott; son, Steven Scott, Jr; daughters, Sh’Briciana Scott and Nicole Scott, Des Moines, IA; stepsons, Christopher Ashby, Las Vegas, NV; and Sean Ashby, Fargo, ND; sisters, Debra Brooks, Carol Scott and Michele Hart, Des Moines, IA; and Dawn Davis, Minneapolis, MN; aunts, Virginia Calaway and Verna Baker, Minneapolis, MN; uncles, George Gibbs, IL; and Russell Baker, Kansas City, MO; nieces, Frances Hawkins and Jasmin Lewis, Des Moines, IA; Summyr David and Tarran Austin, Minneapolis, MN; nephew, Korey Reed, Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, many friends and acquaintances. We will grieve his passing but hold strong the blessing of having had him in our lives no matter the length of time. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held Saturday, December 13, 2008, at 1:00 PM, at MeritCare South University Hospital Conference Room 1A3, 1720 S. University Dr, Fargo, ND. Donations may be made to the Roger Maris Cancer Center, Fargo, ND.
