Steven Lynn Scott was born in Denver, Colorado, on March 30, 1953, and died on December 22, 2007 at his home in West Fargo after a long illness. He graduated from Red River High School in Grand Forks in 1972, and was employed by General Nutrition in Fargo for some years, and then worked on maintenance crews at NDSU as long as his health permitted. He was an avid all seasons outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed a week or more in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness with family and friends every summer for many years. In later years, he became very active as a Civil War re-enactor, taking part in re-enactments in schools, parks, and Civil War battle sites, most notably at Gettysburg. He is survived by his parents, Walter and Rachel Scott, Bemidji, MN; three daughters, Allyson Scott of West Fargo, ND; Amanda Scott of Dickey, ND; and Jennifer Johnson of West Fargo, ND; three sisters, Kathleen Berglie (Loren) Fliflet of Fargo, Christine (Ryan) Bakken of Thompson, ND, and Carol Scott of Moorhead, MN; one granddaughter, Tylar Scott of West Fargo, ND, and many friends. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Jess and Dorothy Scott of Neillsville, Wisconsin, and Lewis and Grace Shields of South Haven, Michigan. Cremation arrangements are with Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home of Fargo. A memorial gathering is planned in the future.
