Steven Jon Kruger was born April 15, 1948 to Eldon L. Kruger and Frances A. (Peterson) Kruger. He attended school in Fargo graduating from Fargo Central H.S. in 1966. He attended NDSU until joining the Navy in 1969.
Steve served 3 tours in Viet Nam receiving shrapnel wounds at a restaurant in Saigon. While in Viet Nam he served with the Seabees in Da Nang and the Naval Advisory Group, Viet Nam and Naval Support Activity, Saigon. After his discharge from the Navy, he joined the Naval Reserve for 20 years. Steve was employed at the Fargo Post Office for 37 years, working as a clerk, Tour Supervisor and a Postal Operations Specialist. He served 18 years on the Board of Directors of the Postal Family Federal Credit Union in many capacities. Steve retired from the Post office in December 2008.
Steve enjoyed time at the lakes with family and friends at the cabin he helped his father and mother build. He also enjoyed hunting with his family and friends and woodworking; helping anyone in need with their projects. He enjoyed working with Trollwood Performing Arts alongside his daughter in all her artistic endeavors, as well as all the sporting events his son Alex was involved in with hockey and baseball.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Brianna (Alex) Asmus, Richfield, MN; son, Alex Kruger, Fargo and sister, Karen Schernbeck, Hurst, TX.
