Stephen Peter Palmer was born in Fargo, ND, September 24, 1943, to Ellend J. and Grace Bergan Palmer. He grew up in Fargo, graduated from Fargo Central High School and attended NDSU. In 1965, he married Carol Wuflestad. They had two children, Kris and Dan. Steve worked in sales and was the sales manager for MH Associates in Fargo. Steve was a musician his entire life, recording, singing and entertaining all over the Midwest with his band, Steve Palmer and the Jades. Steve and his band were known to their fans as “the backup band to the stars”. He played with well-known musicians Jerry Lee Lewis, the Everly Brothers and Joey Dee and the Starlighters, among others and jammed with the Vellines, Bob Zimmerman (Bob Dylan) and many other local band members of the time. Steve received the Life Time Achievement Award from the Rock Country Hall of Fame. The following year, he performed at the Rock Country Hall of Fame awards ceremony. Steve is survived by daughter, Kris (Jay) Baumann; son, Daniel Palmer; two grand daughters, Skyla & Kendra Baumann; father, Ellend J. Palmer; brothers, Greg (Val) Palmer, Tom (Rene) Palmer; sister, Pam (Bob) Younggren; seven nieces and one nephew. Memorial Service: Thursday, December 20, 2007, at 11:00 AM, at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Burial: Riverside Mausoleum, Fargo, ND. Memorial Jam Session in honor of Steve will be held at the Broken Axe, 700 1st Ave. N., Moorhead, starting at 6:00 PM, Thursday, December 20th.
