Steffen S. Olson, age 63, of Fargo, ND, passed away on January 4, 2023. A casual gathering in Steffen's honor will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 1-3 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Steffen Scott Olson was born on May 6, 1959, to O. Carmen and Donna Mae (Shong) Olson in Minot, ND. He grew up on the family farm in Glenburn, ND, and attended Glenburn High School, graduating in 1977. Steffen enlisted with the United States Army after graduating, serving four years before being honorably discharged in 1980. In September 1981, Steffen and Arlinda Boman were joined in marriage and had two daughters Heather Marie Olson, born June 1984, and Heidi Mae Olson, born June 1986.

Steffen spent many years working in agriculture as a spray pilot, flying out of the many small towns surrounding the Fargo-Moorhead area. When Steffen stopped flying, he stayed active in the agricultural community by working as an airplane mechanic as well as in the fertilizer supply market.

Steffen enjoyed ice fishing and spearfishing in his downtime during the winter months, always ready to place a friendly wager for a cup of hot chocolate on the first fish. Steffen enjoyed keeping the many critters in his neighborhood well-fed and recently took an interest in gardening with his daughters.

Steffen started his battle with cancer in 2016. Despite the multiple surgeries, hospital stays, and treatments, he never lost his sense of humor. Throughout his entire journey, he cracked jokes with his daughters, always maintained a positive outlook, and chatted with all the amazing nurses who helped him through it all. Steffen's family would like to extend a very special thank you to the entire staff at Roger Maris Cancer Center and Sanford Wound Care.

Steffen was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his daughters, Heather (Jeff) and Heidi; grandchildren, Lucy and Leo; fur buddies, Tikka, Willow, and Ellie; brothers, Terry and Kevin; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and many great friends.

Steffen's family wishes to say "Thank You" for all your support during these difficult times. Steffen was blessed with many great friends. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for making this difficult time a little easier.
