Stanley Wayne Andvik, 76, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully at Bethany on University on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Stan was born on June 16, 1948, to Thorvald and Clara Andvik. He grew up on the family farm in Kindred, ND, where he spent most of his life before moving to Fargo in 2003. A hardworking and devoted man, Stan farmed alongside his brother, John, for many years, worked at Titan Machinery, and was well known for his handyman skills.
He married Constance Olson, and together they raised three children. Later, he married Carol McArthur, and they shared 31 wonderful years of marriage until his passing.
A man of deep faith, Stan was an active member of Kindred Lutheran Church and a proud 41-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he touched countless lives with his strength and wisdom. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard. He found joy in woodworking, camping, and sharing his beloved Ole and Lena jokes, bringing laughter to all who knew him.
Stan is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his children, Trisha Oteri, Parry (Molly) Andvik, and Tiffany (Scott) Jereska; stepchildren, Bob (Kathy) McArthur, Wayne (Stephanie) McArthur, and Amanda McArthur; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his brother, John (Connie) Andvik. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John; his parents, Clara, Thorvald, and Adeline; and his grandchild, Brett McArthur.
A prayer service will be held at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home on Sunday, February 2, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of Stan’s life will take place at Grace United Methodist Church in Moorhead, MN, on Monday, February 3, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memory Café of the Red River Valley or the Alzheimer’s Association of North Dakota.
A special thanks to Bethany on University, Ethos Hospice Care, and Comfort Keepers for their compassionate care.
Stan’s legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering strength will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
