Song Uong

Song Hua Uong, 51, was born to Chy Hay Uong and Eng Huy Ung on December 30, 1957 in Battambong, Cambodia. He married Lee Lim on April 17, 1978. In 1979, Song and his family members escaped the Khmer Rouge by walking to a refugee camp in Thailand. They were then relocated to Hillsboro, ND. Thurston and Christine Nelson, their sponsors, and Art and Ardith Magnuson generously supported the Uong family during their transition in the United States. Song became a U.S. citizen on May 1, 1986. He and Lee worked various jobs to support their four daughters. Song was a dedicated worker and was recently employed by Fargo Assembly Company for over 14 years. Song was a supportive husband, loving father, grateful son, and generous brother. He enjoyed fishing, watching movies and wrestling, listening and singing to music, and working hard. He also spent a significant amount of time with his mother who taught him how to speak and write in Mandarin. He was truly an amazing person and is greatly missed. We love you so much. He is survived by his parents, Chy Uong and Eng Ung, Fargo, ND; his wife Lee Uong, Fargo, ND; four daughters: Mary (Ike) Uong-Kaale, Fargo, ND, Annie (Tim) Johnson, Boise, ID, Linda Uong, Fargo, ND, and Kenda (Justin Swanson) Uong, Fargo, ND; granddaughter: Kaitlynn Lee Swanson, Fargo, ND; four sisters: Sue Lang Uong, Georgia, Sue Jade Wong, Fargo, ND, Amy Tran, Fargo, ND, Sue Kheng Wong, Fargo, ND, and one brother: Tony Wong, Fargo, ND and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces. Visitation will be at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home on Monday, August 24, from 5:30-7:30PM with a prayer service at 7:30PM. The funeral will be at Temple Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 25, at 10:00 AM following a one hour visitation. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery following the funeral.
