Shirley Sinclair, 72, Fargo, ND, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, from complications of Primary Lateral Sclerosis she developed 20 years ago. Shirley Ann Paupst was born November 29, 1935, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, daughter of Arthur and Blanche (Winslow) Paupst. After graduation from Larimore High School, she attended Colorado Woman’s College and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree in Education. She taught at Greenfield, California for one year. Shirley married Gerald E. Sinclair June 30, 1956. They lived in Lakota, where he was employed by the telephone company until he went into the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss, near El Paso, Texas. Their two sons, Craig and Brad, were born in El Paso. After Jerry was discharged from the Army, the family moved back to North Dakota. They lived in a succession of communities, moving from Lakota to Valley City, Grafton, Grand Forks and finally, Fargo. Their daughter, Dee, was born in Grafton. Daughter, Nanette, was born in Fargo. She became involved with many volunteer groups, PTA member; President of Fargo School Board; First Presbyterian Church “Town Hall Lecture Series; Multiple Sclerosis; March of Dimes; board member Churches United; various responsibilities in the Republican 46th District and ND Republican National Committee Woman for four years. Shirley traveled many places in the world with her daughter, Dee. She also enjoyed participating in the many activities of her grandchildren. We will miss her infectious laughter, go getter attitude, her enthusiasm for life and others. Shirley is survived by her husband, Jerry, Fargo, ND; two sons, Craig (Juliet) Sinclair, Fargo, ND; Brad (Tracy) Sinclair, Horace, ND; two daughters, Dee Sinclair, Houston, TX; and Nanette (David) Boe, Fargo, ND; one sister, Glenna Scott, Houston, TX; two grandsons, Ryan Sinclair and Nick Boe; two granddaughters, Megan Boe and Nicole Sinclair, all of Fargo. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Paupst; and sister, Beverly Juelke. Memorials are preferred to Prairieland Home Care, Fargo, ND.
