Shirley D. Peterson, 85, of Fargo, ND died peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2012 at her home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Shirley Darlene Peterson was born July 17, 1926 in Lisbon, ND to Herman and Edlin (Carlson) Peterson. She attended school and graduated from Aliceton Township School in Ransom County. On June 29, 1943 she married Lyle M. Peterson in Webster, SD. They lived in Milnor and Wimbeldon, ND before moving to Fargo, ND in 1952. They lost their daughter, Diane, in 1953 to Muscular Dystrophy. It was in Fargo that they raised their two sons, Robert and Gyle. She proudly worked as an Avon Representative for almost 25 years. Shirley loved watching the Minnesota Twins, Timberwolves, and Vikings, as well as playing Bingo and Solitaire. She thoroughly enjoyed having company to the house, at times making as many as 7 pots of coffee for their guests. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Diane, two brothers, Milton and Leonard Peterson. She is survived by her husband, Lyle; sons, Bob (Sylvia) Peterson, Breckenridge, MN, and Gyle Peterson, Fargo, ND; brother, Morris Peterson, Beaverton, OR; sister, Janis (Merlin) Claus, Milnor, ND; granddaughter, Stacy Allen, Breckenridge, MN, and great-granddaughter, Brittany (Tony) Bogenreif, Fargo, ND. Funeral Service: Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 11:00AM, at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Monday, May 14, 2012, from 5-7PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Monday at 7:00PM, at the funeral home. Burial: Milnor Lutheran Cemetery, Milnor, ND.
