Shirley Ann Binfet, 67, of Fargo died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at her home, surrounded by family.
Shirley was born on April 6, 1946, the daughter of Ole and Evelyn Dahl in Lankin, ND. She attended a country school for several years where she was taught by her mother. She graduated from Esmond High school, then married Albert Binfet on February 1, 1964, in Esmond, ND.
Albert and Shirley lived and worked for a few years on the family farm. In 1965 they moved to Grand Forks where Shirley worked as a Bell Telephone operator and she and Albert managed apartments. In 1976 they moved to Fargo, where they raised their family. Several summers were spent on Lake Melissa where they co-owned and operated The Village Resort.
Shirley held several jobs throughout her life, but her most important were as mother and grandma to her beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Jack, Evan, Allie, Eli and Evie. She was so proud of everything they accomplished and will continue to keep a watchful eye over her kids. Shirley had some great times with her children and grandchildren, going on trips to Florida and to see Graceland, the home of her favorite, Elvis!
She fought cancer bravely for over 25 years, and was very grateful to Dr. Gross and everyone at the Roger Maris Cancer Center, and most of all to her husband, Albert who always took good care of her.
She is welcomed into heaven by her first born daughter, Julie Marie; her parents; her brother, James; her sister, Jean; her brothers-in-law, Pat, Martin and Joe; and her father-in-law, Mike.
She is survived by her husband Albert; sons Tim (Kelly) of Fargo, Rodney (Sarah) of Minneapolis, and daughter, Jill Friesz (Eric) of New Leipzig; grandchildren, Morgan, Jack, Evan, Allie, Eli and Evie; sister Jacky Hopman of Detroit Lakes; her brother Dennis Dahl (Millie) of Thief River Falls, and many more family members.
