Sherryl Winfred Samuelson, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at her home in Fargo, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 83.
Sherry was born on March 7, 1936 in Ada, MN, one of seven children of Edward and Clara Dekko.
After graduating from Ada High School in 1954, she moved to Moorhead, where she met Edward Oliver Samuelson of Horace, ND. They married in March, 1955. By 1961, she had four children and settled on Park Drive in Fargo, where Ed and Sherry raised their family. At the age of 47, after her children had grown, she graduated from Moorhead State University with a degree in Business Administration. Sherry then moved to Pheonix, AZ, where she worked in property management. Upon her retirement, she purchased a home in Seattle, WA. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she spent many years splitting her time between Arizona, where her daughter Jo’s family resided; North Dakota, where her three sons and their families lived; and her home in Seattle. In her later years, she settled in Fargo, where she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and spending time with family. She was a classy lady, known for her wit, style, and unparalleled generosity.
Sherry was proceeded in death by her parents, Edward and Clara Dekko; brothers, Chet Dekko and Staton Dekko; and sisters, Adeline Bernhardson and Bernice Sullivan.
She is survived by her sisters, Evie Bang and Karen Dekko; four children, Edward Oliver Samuelson (Kim) of West Fargo, James Bryan Samuelson (Michelle Durushia-Samuelson) of Fargo, Jo Louise Dresh (John) of Phoenix, AZ, and Thomas Jon Samuelson (Donna) of Horace; grandchildren, Kristen Reinertson (Steven), John Samuelson (Colleen Johnson), Lindsey Rhodes, Nicole Rhodes, Nicholas Dresh, Tyler Dresh, Kennedy Dresh, Rachel Dwyer (Jack), Josef Samuelson, Hannah Samuelson, Isaac Samuelson, Joshua Durushia, Matthew Durushia, Andrew Durushia, Jeremiah Durushia, Olivia Durushia; and great grandchildren, Kier Voelschow, Morgan Voelschow, Everett Samuelson, Allandra Arechigo, Leyaunna Arechigo, Kalani Rhodes, Jesse Dwyer, Dahlia Dwyer, Michael Dwyer, Sophie Dwyer. She also leaves many other wonderful family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
