Sharon Louise (Anderson) Remmen, 78, of Fargo, ND passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 16, 2024 in Alexandria, MN surrounded by her husband and sisters.
Sharon was born to Florence Shipley and Lewis Valure August 6, 1946 in Wadena, MN. She attended school in Wadena where she earned her diploma. Sharon married David Remmen on July 11, 1970 in Detroit Lakes, MN. Sharon was a devoted member of Gethsemane Episcopal Church. She worked a multitude of jobs including telephone operator, insurance billing specialist, daycare provider, convenience store manager, and her favorite job, raising her children and grandson.
Following her marriage to David 6 months after meeting him, Sharon moved to San Diego where David was stationed in the Navy. She moved back to Moorhead for the birth of their daughter, Melanie. Once David returned from deployment, she continued to raise Melanie on Naval bases in San Diego and Guam. Sharon gave birth to their son, Jason, on the Naval Base in Guam. Once David was discharged from the Navy, they moved back to Detroit Lakes in 1974 with their children. Over the next 15 years, they lived in Fargo, Dickinson, and Detroit Lakes again before deciding to officially settle in Fargo, ND.
Sharon enjoyed gardening, nature, country dancing, camping, going for walks, crocheting, puzzle books and hallmark movies. Her favorite pastime was being with her family. Sharon always looked forward to family dinners and holidays, supporting her grandson's sports and theatre events, and visiting loved ones. Sharon loved to cheer for the Minnesota Twins.
Sharon is survived by her husband, David; her children, Melanie (Jon) Stelljes and Jason (Cari) Remmen; her grandson, Cedar (C.C.) Remmen; her sisters, Nancy (Pat) Gerten, Vicki (Tom) Zeigler, Diane (Darwin) Stelzer, Betty Miller, and Shirley Heinen; her sibling-in-laws, Joann (Virgil) Heinen, Barb (Ken) Gruer, Roger Remmen, Larry (Kelly) Remmen, Robert Remmen, Cheryl (Mike) Ohm, John Remmen.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Florence Anderson and Lewis Valure; her parents-in-law, Lois and Palmer Remmen; her sibling-in-laws, Jerry Miller, Fritz Heinen, Steve Remmen, Marla Remmen.
Her service will be held at Gethsemane Episcopal Church in Fargo on Tuesday, September 24, at 11am. Her burial ceremony will be at 2pm at Fargo National Cemetery, 8709 40th Avenue North, Co Rd 20, Harwood, ND 58042. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Minnesota-North Dakota Alzheimer's Association Chapter, 12701 Whitewater Drive Suite 290, Minnetonka, MN 55343.
