Selmer “Sam” Endrud, Jr., 76, of Dilworth, MN, died Monday, August 24, 2009, at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo. Selmer “Sam” Endrud was born June 29, 1933, at Mayville, North Dakota, to Sam and Carrie (Eng) Endrud. He graduated high school in Mayville. Sam served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956, after which he graduated from Mayville State University. Sam married Marge Hegre August 23, 1959, at Northwood, North Dakota. Sam taught and coached in Hatton and Oakes, North Dakota. He moved to Fargo in 1969 and worked as a counselor at Fargo North High School and Agassiz Junior High until retiring in 1993. Sam was active in professional organizations and his church. Wherever Sam was he enjoyed being involved with people. He is survived by his wife, Marge, Dilworth, MN: his daughter, Melanie (Peter) Hoistad, Grand Forks, ND; his son, Steven (Robyn) Endrud, St. Paul, MN;; granddaughters, Rachel and Alexandra Hoistad; and Kaia, Annika and Soren Endrud; two sisters, Gladys (Carroll) Hanna, Chanhassen, MN: and Barb Ohnstad, Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Selmer and Carrie Endrud; brothers, Ernest and Norton Endrud. Memorial Service: Friday, August 28, 2009, at 10:30 AM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Thursday, August 27, 2009, at 7:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hospice of the Red River Valley, Bethany Homes, or a charity of the donor's choice.
