Åse “Aase” Hordvik, 80, of Fargo, died Thursday, November 22, 2012 surrounded by family, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Åse Eline Pedersen was born in Bergen, Norway, October 12, 1932, daughter of Sigurd and Signy (Johannesen) Pedersen. She immigrated to the United States with her husband and son in 1960.
She was a dear wife, beloved mother, farmor, mormor, and oldemor. She was an award-winning knitter, and enjoyed other hand crafts such as crocheting. Åse’s favorite thing in life was to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Åse is survived by her son, Stein-Inge Hordvik, Omaha, NE; daughter, Dr. Marit Karin Hordvik (Dr. Glenn Mastel), Fargo, ND; six granddaughters, Signe Freed, Sonja Hordvik, Maia Mastel, Malena Mastel, Ingri Mastel, and Signy Mastel; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Hordvik and Blake Freed; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws in Norway.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Karsten; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hordvik; three sisters, Wally Tollefsen, Else Nilsen, Kirsten Vesteng; three brothers, Ragnar Jan Hovland, Per Pedersen, and Finn Pedersen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church Radio Fund.
