Sandra "Sandi" Mae Dahl

January 7, 1941 — January 10, 2025

Sandi Dahl of Fargo, ND was born in Devils Lake, ND on January 7, 1941 to Floyd and Beatrice Mae Jensen, nee Berg. She grew up on a farm and attended school in Devils Lake. Having lived on the farm, she was inspired by the beauty of her own backyard. Several family members were artists and this family background played a role in her development as an artist herself. She graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics and belonged to the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Sandi met Walter "Odin" Dahl at UND and they married on July 31, 1961. They had two sons, David and Kirk. They moved to Bismarck for a short period before making their home in Fargo. Memorable to Sandi was that she and Odin volunteered in NYC for 3 weeks following the disaster of 9/11.

After graduation she started traveling the United States sharing her artwork at national art fairs and galleries. Her travels through Europe and America for decades inspired her works in watercolors, oils and chalk pastels. Corporations such as the Radisson Hotel, Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, AT&T, Northrup Corp., local hospitals, banks and galleries, and the University of North Dakota have collected her art, prints, and posters. Sandi served on the Plains Art Museum Board of Directors as the museum opened in Fargo. In 2012, Sandi continued her life-long learning in art by joining the Plains School of Abstract Painting led by Marjorie Schlossman. Schlossman stated that "already an accomplished artist, Sandi was beloved by class members and we all admired her paintings!" Sandi resided at Touchmark in Fargo for her final 2 1/2 years.

Sandi is survived by sister-in-law Pauline Jensen as well as nieces and nephews: Steve Jensen, Susan Gebhart, Becky Karitsikis, Peter Jensen, Barbara Banker, Karen Stinton, and Craig Jensen. Sandi was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Odin Dahl; her sons, David and Kirk (Corky) Dahl; and her brothers, Doug, Ronald, and Gary Jensen.

A Celebration of Life for Sandi and for her son, David, will be announced at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the Plains Art Museum in Fargo.

Arrangements entrusted to Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home - Fargo, ND.
