Sandra Jean Hassler, 74, passed away Sunday, January 10, at her home in West Fargo, North Dakota, with family by her side. She was born December 21, 1946, in Staples, Minnesota, the daughter of Donald and Luzetta (Martin) Peterson. After graduation from Staples high school, she worked for Control Data in Minneapolis for two years. She then worked at the Staples Vocational School for two years.
On June 22, 1968, Sandra was united in marriage to Kenneth Hassler. After a brief residence in Staples, Minnesota, the couple, along with their children, moved to Northwood, North Dakota where she worked for over 30 years with her husband in his CPA practice.
Sandra was a member of Saint Stephen’s Church in Larimore, North Dakota, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a Cub Scout den leader. Sandra loved going for walks, hikes, gardening, and trips to the casino. Every home and cabin that the family owned, Sandy put her interior decorating expertise to work.
In 2011, Sandy and Ken retired to their lake home on White Sand Lake in Baxter, Minnesota. In 2019, the couple moved to West Fargo, North Dakota, to be closer to family.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth; two sons, Brad (Deb) of Fargo, North Dakota; Paul (Tania) of San Marcos, California; daughter, Angie (Chris) of Owatonna, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Ron (Mary) of Staples, Minnesota; and one sister, Karen (Tom) of Aitkin, Minnesota.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Geraldine Bennett; and one brother, Lynn.
Due to Covid, a private family service will be held on Thursday, January 14 at 2:00 PM and will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
The family request any memorials to be given to the Hospice of the Red River Valley 1701 30th St., South Suite 101 Fargo, ND 58103-4499.
