Sandra “Sandy” Fiechtner Bergo was welcomed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, January 5, 2018, in Peoria, Arizona, after a brief illness.
Sandra Lee Dahl was born September 6, 1940 to Carl and Sylvia Dahl. She grew up in McCauleyville, Minnesota, and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1958. Sandy studied Business Administration, proudly sang in the Concert Choir, and graduated from Concordia College in 1962. While there, she met Bob Fiechtner. They married on June 8, 1962, and lived in both Minneapolis (where Sandy worked at the University of Minnesota School of Architecture) and in Wisconsin.
In 1969, Bob and Sandy returned to Fargo to become co-owners of the NODAK store with Bob’s brother Gerry. Shortly after returning to Fargo, their family grew with the blessings of daughter Kristin in 1970 and son Tim in 1972. Sandy’s children were her joy, and she was a kind and loving matriarch who loved her family passionately.
While Bob and Sandy raised their family in Fargo, Sandy also lived her love of music playing the organ at Grace Lutheran Church for over 20 years, accompanying countless musicians, and performing in a number of music groups. She was an active member of the community as part of the FM Area Music Club and in Bible study fellowships. She also worked in the Development Office at Concordia College from 1989-1996. When Bob and Sandy began spending winters at Westbrook Village in Peoria, AZ, Sandy was especially proud to be part of musical groups such as the Village Voices and the Upbeats.
After Bob’s passing in 2009, Sandy was blessed to meet Gordie Bergo. Gordie and Sandy married on November 10, 2013. Together, Gordie and Sandy exemplified Christ’s love through their care for one another and those around them. Their spirit, generosity, and heartfelt love sincerely touched the lives of many.
If only three words were allowed to describe Sandy, they would be faith, family, and love. Her prayer list was long, and her faith was unshakeable, even in the most difficult trials in her life. Her family has no doubt that when her Heavenly Father called her home, she ran with arms open and a song of love in her heart.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband Gordie Bergo, Peoria, AZ; daughter Kristin Nelsen (Matt), Fargo, ND; son Tim Fiechtner (Holly), Fargo, ND; step-children Julie Bergo, Phoenix, AZ; Cassandra Valez (Dennis), Littleton, CO; Steve Bergo, Phoenix, AZ; son-in-law Christophe Patton, Phoenix, AZ; the treasures of her heart, her grandchildren Madeline, Birk “Sunshine Boy,” Kane, and Caroline Nelsen; Nels and Freddy Fiechtner; Carter and Ben Patton; Oliver and Oscar Valez; brothers Gordon Dahl (Carole), Fargo, ND; Mike Dahl (Linda), Wayzata, MN; sisters-in-law Eunice Menezes (Euo), Cupertino, CA; Joan Fiechtner, Fargo, ND; brother-in-law Ed Herrmann (Carol); as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family.
