Ryan was born and spent most of his life in Michigan until 2019 when he moved to North Dakota to seek work in an oil country. In 2020, Ryan made his way to Fargo, North Dakota, where he claimed his new home. Ryan became a well-known, well-loved, and highly regarded member of the recovery community.
Ryan was a skilled tradesman who took great pride in his work. He often talked of his dream of starting a contracting company that employed people like him, rebuilding their lives, and seeking stability in recovery. Ryan dreamed of helping others become established in life.
As an avid advocate in the community, Ryan embodied the value of “service above self,” as seen in his involvement with Fraser, Ltd. Ryan was a proud advisor to the Board of Directors, a Peer Mentor, and a great friend. He could often be found at Stepping Stones Resource Center volunteering his time and assisting other young adults with reaching their goals.
Though Ryan held many titles and skills, he held no title more dearly than being a father. He often spoke about his dreams and aspirations, but nothing compared to how often he spoke of his pride in his children and his desire to be involved in their lives. Ryan frequently expressed his need to be a good example and father figure to his beloved children.
Ryan was a spark that shined brightly in the community—always assuring others they were in the right place and offering support to those in need. Even when he was not doing well, he made sure to deliver those around him a sense of safety and security with their surroundings. Living as an example of faith in Christ’s love, grace, and transformative power. Everyone within earshot of Ryan could attest to one of his most common catchphrases, “God’s got this.”
Ryan’s spark will continue to shine as he leaves a legacy of kindness, advocacy, and faith. During his short time in Fargo, Ryan made an unforgettable impact. He will be missed and held in high regard in the minds and hearts of his chosen family. We pray for our friend and beloved brother in Christ as he embarks on his final journey, soaring into the embrace of our heavenly father and finding eternal peace.
