Ruth E. Riedesel, 91, of Sioux Falls, SD died Saturday in Good Samaritan Village, 3901 South Marion Road #605, Sioux Falls, SD 57106. Ruth Eleanor Linn was born June 20, 1916 in Fargo, ND to Theodore and Amelia (Acton) Linn. She grew up in Fargo and graduated with honors from Fargo Central High School in 1934. She worked at Woolworth’s until marrying Jackson Riedesel on October 3, 1937. They moved to Davis, SD where he was an assistant principal and band director. Ruth was his accompanist on the piano. In 1940 they moved to Britton, SD where he was a high school teacher and band director. He was called into the Army Ground Forces on Feb. 1, 1942. Ruth and their baby daughter followed him wherever possible, but spent most of the war years in Fargo. In 1949 Jackson started The Jackson Co. and they lived in Fargo until 1969. At that time, they moved to Burnsville, MN and then Bloomington, MN where Ruth worked as head of the billing department for Norwest Plastics until she retired in 1978. They spent their summers at their home on Pelican Lake, and wintered in Palm Springs, CA. It was during those years that Ruth became an avid knitter, creating over 1500 personalized Christmas stockings. They were her pride and joy. In 1997 they moved to Moorhead, MN. After Jackson’s death, Ruth moved to Sioux Falls, SD to be near one of her daughters. She is survived by her children, Linda (Wayne) Savold of Melbourne, FL, Jacqueline “Jacki” Hammons of Redondo Beach, CA, Cynthia (Tom) Rausch of Sioux Falls, SD, and Edward Riedesel of Moorhead, MN, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings Roger Linn and Evelyn Welch. Funeral: 10:00AM Wednesday, July 18 at Hanson-Runsvold Chapel.
