Ruth E. Hemm

Ruth E. Hemm, Died, at the age of 93, Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Bethany Retirement Living / 42nd Street, Fargo.

Ruth E. (Kickertz) Hemm was born June 29, 1921, the daughter of Eugene & Emma (Ladenthin) Kickertz near Davenport, ND. She attended school in the Davenport/ Wheatland areas and graduated with honors from Lincoln High School, Casselton, ND. She attended Bismarck Evangelical Hospital School Of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in Bismarck, ND and Grand Rapids, MN. In 1944, she joined the US Army Nurse Corps and served in the Pacific Theater. Upon discharge she worked as a nurse in: Milton, WV; Washington, DC and Fargo, ND. On February 10, 1951, she married Bert Hemm. She became a full time wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working within the church and in her later years, volunteering for Hospice of the Red River Valley and at The Shepherd’s Christian Preschool.

Ruth is survived by daughter, Heidi (Fred) Heilman, Moorhead, MN; sons, Paul (Lisa) Hemm, Fargo, ND and Dwight (Ellen), Round Rock, TX; grandchildren: Jenny (Scott) Monzelowsky; Lonnie Heilman; Nathan (Becca) Hemm, Eric Hemm, Carla Hemm and Elle Anderson; great-grandsons: Jaxon Monzelowsky, Brady and Archer Hemm; sisters-in-law: Erma and Ila Vey Kickertz, Esther Hemm, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert; her parents; brothers/sisters-in-law, Vern, Alfred, Ervin (Eleanor), Roger (Janet) & Fred (Myrtle).
