Russell Hanson

Russell C. Hanson, 87, Fargo, ND, passed away February 9, 2012, at Sanford Health, Fargo. He was born August 7, 1924 to Carl and Clara Hanson on the family farm near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. In 1946, Russell married Phyllis Ellingson, who preceded him in death on January 9, 1971. Russell was an Army veteran and a graduate of Fargo Public Schools. He obtained additional training in cabinet making in California, beginning a lifelong career in construction that started with his own company and moved on to supervising commercial construction. He also enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, oil painting and writing poetry. Russell is survived by his daughter, Linda (Arthur) Moreau; his son, Brian (Jayne) Hanson; his sister, Lory Mauseth; three grandchildren, Angela (Mike) Paul; Brent (Leondra) Hanson; Wade (Michelle) Hanson; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Susan; his sisters, Charlotte Connor and Avis Krogh and his brother, Gordon Hanson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hope Lutheran Church, 2900 N. Broadway, Fargo, ND 58102 or Rosewood on Broadway, where Russell had been a resident for five years, Attn: Rosewood Auxiliary, 1351 N. Broadway, Fargo, ND 58102. Funeral Service: Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at 10:00 AM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home Chapel, Fargo, officiated by Pastor Gary Clark. Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
