Ruben Ochsner, 93, of Fargo, ND died Friday, October 12, 2007 at MeritCare – Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. Ruben Ochsner was born June 17, 1914 in Zeeland, ND to Theophil and Frieda (Walker) Ochnser. He grew up in Zeeland. They moved to a farm in rural Gardner, ND in 1936. In 1936, Ruben enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps and then served in the Army in the Medical Corps from July 1942 to December 1945. Ruben married Dorothy Detmers on September 29, 1940 in Moorhead, MN. He worked as a mechanic for Red Owl for 26 years, retiring in 1977. Ruben is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy; a son, Allan (Marlene) Ochsner; daughter, Colleen (Larry) Czichotzki, both of Fargo, ND; two grandsons, Jacob and Nathan Ochsner; six sisters, Millie Stagner, Springfield, MO; Lavina Brag, Fargo, ND; Florence (Bennie) Rau, Fargo, ND; Norma (Harlen) Lemke, Detroit Lakes, MN; Linda Larson, Fargo, ND; Viona (John) Symons, Madero, CA; and one brother, Larry (Louise) Ochsner, Hibbing, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Esther Schmierster; five brothers, John, Edwin, Hugo, Fred, and Eugene Ochsner; and two infant siblings. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral service: Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Monday, October 15, 2007 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Serivce: Monday, October 15, 2007 at 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
