Roy Heier

Roy Heier, 80, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Innovis Health, Fargo. Roy Vernon Heier was born January 6, 1927, in Alfred, North Dakota, son of John and Pauline (Wegner) Heier. He attended school in Jamestown. Roy joined the U.S. Army Air Force Medical Corps June 1945, and served until discharged November 1946, as a Sergeant. He returned to Jamestown and attended Jamestown College. On January 15, 1949, Roy married Audrey Rexine in Jamestown. Roy worked with his father at Heier Construction then attended Interstate Business College for two years prior to joining Lutheran Hospitals and Homes Society in 1955, as director of Accounting in Torrington, Wyoming. In 1958, Roy was named Chief Accountant at the Fargo headquarters. He held various positions from Controller to CFO, retiring in 1985, for health reasons and would return to work periodically for special projects. Roy enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard and following the local sports teams. Roy is survived by his wife, Audrey, his wife of 58 years, Fargo, ND; two sons, Mark, Fargo; Neil (Diane), Harwood; a sister, Delores (Keith) Dennis, Torrington, WY; five grandchildren, Beth (Jade) Nelson; Jamie, Andrea, Casey (Matthew) Munoz; and John; three great-grandchildren, Hanna and Tanner Nelson; and Asher Munoz. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Raymond. Memorial Service: Monday, April 23, 2007, at 10 AM, at Gethsemane Episcopal Cathedral, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Sunday, April 22, 2007, from 3-5 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Sunday, at 5 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
