Rose M. Sundby died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Elim Care Center, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Rose was born January 15, 1929 in Scoby, MT, to Homer Nate and Marie (Rheault) Boisjolie. The family later moved to ND and Rose attended school at St. Benedict’s in Horace. She married Sig Langness in 1945 and they had three children – Charlene, Duane, and Russell. Sig and Rose later divorced. Rose married Palmer Sundby in 1976 and they lived in Fargo until his death in 1995. She loved working in retail sales all her working life, at Mandel’s, Greggs Shoes, and Naturalizer Shoes until her retirement.
Rose loved spoiling family and pets with unconditional love and understanding, and provided a warm welcome and a compassionate ear to many of her children’s friends, as well as her grandchildren. She embodied the phrase “kindness is a habit of the heart”.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Palmer; brothers, Ernest and David; infant twin sister, Jenneth Marie; daughter, Charlene Poole, and grandson, Paul Langness.
She is fondly missed by her sons, Duane (Nancy) and Russ (Jolene); son-in-law, Tom Poole; grandchildren, Tanya Langness, Eric Langness, Kelly (Art Driscoll), Tracy (Tom Heyroth), John Poole, Jamey (Jory Iwen), Abby (Jesse England), Brianna, and Andy and Alex Willson; sisters-in-law, Leona Boisjolie and Margaret Sandsmark; 18 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Elim Care Center for the loving care they provided to Rose and to her family, as well.
Memorials in honor of Rose are preferred to Cat’s Cradle or 4 Luv of Dog in Fargo.
