Ron Messelt, age 72, child of God, died on Monday, February 22nd, 2016. He was born to Hazelle and Cliff Messelt on February 20, 1944 in Crookston, MN.
Ron was a loving husband, supportive father, awesome grandpa and compassionate friend. He was humble about everything except his family. He was a master educator, an advocate for kids and an encourager for new teachers. He loved having coffee with his friends and wanted to know about the lives of all those he met. Many described him as the most positive man they have ever met.
Ron was an avid golfer and fan of the Bison, Twins and Vikings. He loved camping with Em and his grandkids, and would tell them crazy bedtime stories that they will never forget. His corny sense of humor was enjoyed by everyone, and he was always willing to laugh at himself.
He is survived by his wife, Em, his daughter, Mirim Kim, his son and daughter-in-law, John and Andria Messelt, his grandchildren, Josh, Siri, Caleb and Asher, and his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Bunnie Messelt. He will be greatly missed by his extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and their families, and all who knew him.
The family requests that memorials be given to one of the following: Churches United for the Homeless, the Great Plains Food Bank Backpack Program, or the Fargo Public School Education Foundation.
