Romona Anne Roder, 72, of Dickey, ND, died at Golden Living Center nursing home in Moorhead, MN, on September 4, 2011. Romona Anne Roder was born in Edgeley, ND, on May 27, 1939, to George Lewis and Jessie (Waldie) Lewis. She was of German, Scotch, Irish, and English descent. She was raised on a farm near Adrian, ND, and went to a country school, Banner No. 3, through the eighth grade. She then moved to Dickey, ND, where she attended and graduated high school. Romona also attended Business College in Fargo and worked at the Jamestown Hospital as an aid and receptionist. Romona later found a job at the bank in Steele, ND, until her marriage to Lawrice “Emmet” Roder on January 15, 1961. They moved to Benson, MN, and later to Montevideo, MN, where they lived and raised a family. Romona and Emmet divorced in August of 1968 and Romona and her four children moved back to Dickey to live in 1975. Romona was a long time member of the United Methodist Church and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Romona is survived by two sons, George Roder, Dickey, ND, and Pat (Becky) Roder, Northfield, MN, and two daughters, Valerie Roder, Bismarck, ND, and Vicky (Mark) Elliott, Glyndon, MN; four grandchildren, Joshua and David Roder, Savannah (Elliott) Ganje and McKenzie Elliott; three great-grandchildren, Jordynn, Alisynn, and Kyler Ganje; one brother, Dennis Lewis, Dickey, ND; and two sisters, Edna (Murray) Schrader, Adrian, ND, and Beverly (Karl) Taylor, West Bend, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Service: Friday, September 9, 2011, at 2 PM, in the Dickey United Methodist Church, Dickey, ND. Visitation: Friday, from 12:30 – 2:00 PM, at the church.
