Roger Bruce Lisburg, 76, of Argusville, ND died Monday, June 1, 2020 at Villa Maria, Fargo, ND. He was born April 3, 1944 in Fargo – mother being Margaret (Kvebak/Atkinson) and stepfather Paul A. Lisburg, Sr.
He grew up on the family farm near Argusville and graduated from high school there. He was baptized and confirmed in the Osterdalen Lutheran Church. In 1965 he was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War and stationed in Germany to protect the land border, with much dissention between blacks and whites in his own company during that time. He was very proud to have served in the 1st Tank 32nd Armor Company C in Germany, as Elvis Presley had. After his honorable discharge in 1967, he returned to the Argusville area and married Donna Scharbow in 1969. After which the family eventually moved to a homestead near Argusville.
Roger and Donna divorced in 1993; and in September 2005, he married Randa Pfaff and lived on the homestead near Argusville until December 2019 when he resided at the Villa Maria. During his lifetime, Roger was a member of the VFW, DAV Commanders Club, NRA, Wounded Warrior Project Advanced Guard, and the Vietnam Veterans of America. There were not many lives that Roger did not touch in one way or another, including his passenger flight from Fargo to Chicago which Johnny Cash happened to be on and invited Roger to sit with him in 1st class so he could hear this ND boy’s stories. He was never afraid of work – from rebuilding cars, rebuilding equipment for his Lisburg Tree Service, building pole buildings, registering an invention, to flying planes – which is what he loved the most.
He is survived by his wife Randa; seven siblings, Margaret (Larry) Livingston, Puyallup, WA, Linda (Les) Flikka, Argusville, Paul Jr., Argusville, Betty (Bill Pierce) Lisburg, Fargo, Patsy (Terry) Holm, Gardner, Larry (Teri), West Fargo, and Fran Woods, Kent, WA; four children, Landy, Fargo, Rodney (Lisa), Moorhead, MN, Terri Brooks, Sioux Falls, SD, and Christina (Gene) Knutson, Lake Park, MN; one aunt, Marion, Gary, MN; 10 grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A private family service will be held. A live stream will be available on the link at the top of this page.
