Rodney John Ries

Rodney passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Elim Care Center surrounded by family, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and the excellent caring staff of Elim.
Rodney was born May 12, 1939 to John and Eugina (Gust) Ries in Fargo, ND.
Rodney married Carol Evelynn Johnson in July of 1960.
Rodney was general manager for one hour Martinizing and Camelot cleaners. He was also the owner of R.J. Ries Cleaners in Sioux Falls.
Rodney had a great sense of humor, always telling Ole & Lena jokes. He loved to golf and was a friend to many.
He is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Lynn) Fargo, ND; sister, Darlene (Hallard) Miller, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law, Nancy Aberle (Gabriel) Florence, SD; grandchildren, John (Francis) Ries, Matt Grommesh (Ariel) and Rachel Ries; Evan, Eric (Erin) and Elle Forde; and great-grandchildren, Keita, Lois and Frankie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Randy Ries; and his wife, Carol of nearly 50 years.
In lieu of funeral, the family will be having a private ceremony to celebrate his life.
